We are a new Special Education free school that is part of the Reach South Academy Trust. We offer full time special education, care and therapeutic support to vulnerable children and young people with Education and Healthcare Plans. SAIL is welcoming and working with a neurodiverse population of up to 150 children aged between 4-19 with a primary diagnosis of autism or a SEMH (social, emotional, mental health) profile.
We are excited to be taking handover of our new building sited on Wilton Road, Salisbury on 20th December 2023. We will welcome our current students back on 12th January 2024.
Our new school building has been converted to specifically meet the needs of its neurodiverse population. The design of the building and SAIL’s curriculum will ensure that, where appropriate, pupils who are different ages or have different diagnosis are able to be educated and cared for in bespoke spaces that meet their needs. Additionally, we house specialist environments within the buildings e.g. appropriate to the needs of 4-6 years olds (primary classrooms and play equipment) and post 16 pupils (‘life skills’ independent areas) that ensures the curriculum meets the needs of different identified cohorts. Our school is effectively 'zoned' to ensure there is no unnecessary mixing of ages and that all transitions are carefully managed and our pupils are safe, happy and ready to learn.
